Dr. R.P. Bhattacharjee,registrar NERIST,was attacked this evening at around 7:00 pm along with institute driver K.K. Mathew when they went to UD guest house near VKV school Nirjuli to drop his daughter who is staying at NIT hostel Nirjuli. On returning the driver turn the vehicle near a resident,some unknown miscreants started assaulting the driver and eventually assaulted the registrar even though he apoloziged on behalf of any disturbance by them .Both the registrar and driver were beaten up leading to cuts on eyebrow and head.Victims were rushed to general hospital,naharlagun for medical assistance. such incidents has happened in the past were NERIST employee have been manhandled on silly backgrounds.An FIR has been registered at nirjuli police station.So We the students union of Nerist strongly condemn such inhuman act to a govt. employee and we seek justice for the victims.
